Thoughts are powerful things. They can affect every aspect of our lives. Not only that, they are constantly with us during every waking moment. Choosing your thoughts wisely can change your life for the better. If you’re looking to lose weight or eliminate the junk food, changing your thoughts can help you change your diet.

Take a look at your current mind patterns. What kinds of thoughts are you thinking when it comes to your diet? Do you tell yourself that you will never lose weight? Do you think that healthy foods don’t taste good? Do you think it’s too difficult to cook and prepare nutritious meals?
When you evaluate your current thoughts you might realize that they have been very similar. Most likely they have been in a negative or unwanted mode. You probably see a theme among these thoughts. Are they all telling you what you want is either difficult or impossible?

If you think about how difficult it is to eat a healthy diet, then chances are it will become difficult. Your thoughts reinforce this so that the Universe sends you more of the same. How to Change Your Thoughts
Changing thoughts is like changing habits. It doesn’t happen overnight and it will take some practice, but it can be done. There are some great tools you can use to help. Affirmations and visualizations are excellent to use for this type of work.
Affirmations are positive present tense phrases that you repeat to yourself over and over. You can do this mentally or verbally. Eventually the repetition of these words will retrain your brain. Rather than repeat the old thought patterns, your mind will begin to adhere to the new patterns set by the affirmations.
Some examples you may want to try include: “I enjoy eating healthy food.” “I prefer healthy food over junk food.” “My new diet is working.” Repeat them often throughout the day. Even as little as five minutes a day will help. It is essential that you work with your affirmations consistently on a regular basis. You can even write them down and place them on your refrigerator or some other prominent place where you’ll see them daily.
Visualization is another wonderful tool to help you change your thoughts. Seeing things in your mind’s eye works on a different area of the brain than affirmations. This way you can incorporate both techniques and really boost your new thought patterns.
You can work with visualization by doing a semi-meditation. While sitting in a comfortable meditative position, close your eyes. See yourself eating healthy nutritious food and enjoying them. Imagine the beautiful colors of fresh fruits and vegetables. See the food going into your body and bathing each and every cell with light. Visualize yourself feeling and looking good!
Another visualization technique is working with a vision board. This also works with the Law of Attraction. By making a poster board with picture of your goals, it sends a message to the Universe of your intention. It also stimulates the visual areas of the brain and keeps your attention focused on what you wish to achieve. Your “diet vision board” might include magazine cutouts of tantalizing but healthy meals, fruits and vegetables, and people enjoying these foods.
As you start changing your thoughts you may notice your behavior starts to change. You might reach for an apple instead of a candy bar. Junk food may not be so appealing anymore. When you achieve a small victory like this, be sure to acknowledge your progress. Keep encouraging yourself to continue along this path. Before you know it your thoughts will have changed your diet – and your life!
