War. Global warming. Corporate domination. Government spying. Violence. Cruelty. It's really no wonder some people feel that their faith in humanity has been destroyed. But the attitude is just not a healthy one to live with, and will have a worse effect on you than societies problems do.

How do you handle it when you've given up hope?
Sometimes the bad stuff in the world gets to us. We're horrified by the headlines and can’t look away. We can't stop talking about the disasters.
Though it may be like trying to look away from a train wreck, try to distance yourself a little. If you’ve been that sucked in that you feel there is no hope, you need to create a buffer to insulate yourself from tragedies for at least most of your day.
Look for the Good
The good in the world, the beauty, the joys—they’re still there. They've just been overshadowed in your current perspective. To change perspective, you need to seek a different angle. Look for the good—join a charity, indulge in a pleasant hobby that makes you feel alive and impassioned.
All these world problems are things humans have faced in one way or another since the beginning; the only thing that’s gotten us through, and continues to get us through, is hope. If you want to be part of the solution, you’ll need to reclaim yours.
