Where Has The Time Gone?

How many times have you said, “Gee, where did the time go?” Before you know it, not only has a day gone by, but weeks, months and even years have passed in practically the blink of an eye! Do you feel like time is speeding up or do you assume it’s all in your imagination? You may be surprised to know that there are some spiritual explanations for this increasingly common phenomenon.

What Time Is It?

Remember when you were a child looking forward to Christmas or a birthday? Didn’t it seem like it took forever for that special day to arrive? Now that you’re older, you probably think things like, “Is it Christmas time again already?” Or “I can’t believe I’m having another birthday.” Why the big change? What happened?

You may be surprised to know that there are some spiritual explanations for this increasingly common phenomenon.

Many people attribute this to age and often poke fun at you for your advancing years. In some respects they are right. When you are a young child of five for example, one year is twenty percent of your life—that’s a huge chunk! However when you’re fifty, a year is only two percent of your life—that’s a quick flash! When you compare those two perspectives, of course time seems to fly by when you’re older. It’s all relative. But is that all there is to it?

Time For a Change

So aside from the perspective of time related to your age, what else could it be? There are numerous theories—one being a shift in consciousness. Many of us are waking up spiritually and increasing our energetic vibratory rates. It’s quite possible that you may experience this shift as a speeding up of time. As you change, your concept of time changes.

Since larger numbers of people are awakening everyday, it would lead us to believe that collectively were are all feeling a time shift as well as a spiritual shift. So if you think you’re the only one feeling this way—think again. You are definitely not alone!

Humanity isn’t the only one changing as far as this phenomenon is concerned. Even our planet is getting into the act. The Earth’s rotation has a lot to do with our perception of time too. According to Einstein’s theory, as an object approaches the speed of light, time slows down. Therefore the opposite must hold true. If an object slows down, then time will speed up. Scientific and spiritual researcher Gregg Braden’s work has uncovered information that the Earth is actually slowing down, therefore adding to the speeding time phenomenon.

Time Flies When You’re Having Fun…or Being Busy

You know the old saying, “Time flies when you’re having fun.” It also flies when you’re extremely busy. Chances are you’ve experienced this quite often. Vacations and days off fly by, but so do busy days at work. When a lot is happening, time goes fast. This applies to us not only as individuals, but also as a society.

Consider how far we have come in just a few years time regarding things like technology, education, medicine and communications. It seems like we have been more productive in the past few years than in the previous one hundred years.

The late Mayan calendar researcher and expert Ian Xel Lungold was of the belief that time seemed to be speeding up because creation was speeding up. As more happens, time appears to move more quickly. In Lungold’s words, “When more is possible to happen in every moment, there is more possible outcomes which opens the door to things called miracles." Sounds like time flies when you’re making miracles!

So as the time marches on even more quickly these days, remember it’s all part of our spiritual journey. We are speedily racing towards a higher consciousness that is truly timeless.
